ADVISORY BOARD GOVERNANCE OF EPP 

Article I: Mission of TXITE Advisory Board

 

The mission of the Advisory Board is to provide advice, guidance, support and advocacy for the Educator Preparation Program (EPP). Participation in the Advisory Board is strictly voluntary. The principal task of every Board participant is to develop and adopt recommendations regarding all EPP policies and procedures, including but not limited to:

 

  • the admission and retention of teacher candidates

  • the effective and efficient operation of the EPP

  • the certification of program completers

  • the development of academic and field coursework

  • the deliberation of student grievances and complaints

  • the development of partnerships with school districts and educational entities

  • the capacity of the EPP to assume and satisfy contractual obligations

  • the collection and analysis of data regarding institutional effectiveness and accreditation

  • EPP budgeting

  • the exchange of new ideas and educational research.

 

Article II: Roles and Responsibilities of Board Participants

  • Successfully complete Advisory Board training.

  • Uphold all standards of the Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.

  • Actively and voluntarily participate in all Advisory Board meetings.

  • Actively and voluntarily participate in all assigned committees.

  • Actively and voluntarily participate in all TEA webinars and meetings regarding EPPs.

  • Vote on all Advisory Board matters.

  • Invite potential Advisory Board participants.

  • Adhere to FERPA confidentiality requirements.

  • Stay updated on TAC Chapters §227, 228, 229.

  • Serve as liaison between EPP and prospective partners.

  • Contribute fully to the implementation of the EPP’s vision for teacher education.

  • Preserve the confidentiality and secrecy of EPP resources, materials, files, records, documents, and intellectual property.

  • Update Advisory Board by-laws, as needed via majority vote.

  • Artifacts created via advisory board participation are owned solely and exclusively by the EPP.

  • The Board approves/denies agenda items by majority vote.
