You can teach and earn the same salary/benefits as other first-year, certified teachers while completing state certification requirements! Since districts have openings throughout the year, we admit teacher candidates every day of the year. We partner with all Texas school districts and TEA-recognized private schools. We guide you through every certification step.
Calendar of Activities
Apply for admission to the Institute. We accept applications throughout the year. We only admit college/university graduates and individuals in the last semester of college/university Be sure to upload official college/university transcripts, references, and score reports (PACT, TOEFL-International) with your application or email them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
2) Start the self-paced Pre-Teaching Coursework and Pass the TExES Content and PPR Exams (Prior to serving as Intern/Probationary or Clinical Teacher). You must complete all Pre-Teaching Coursework and pass the TExES Content and Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) Exams before reporting to your school. While enrolled in the Pre-Teaching Coursework, you will start searching for an Intern/ Probationary Teacher of Record Position or Clinical Teacher Placement.
Intern/Probationary Teachers of Record earn the same salary and benefits as other first-year teachers and must teach for one academic year to earn the Texas Standard Teacher Certificate.
Clinical Teachers complete a 14-week student teaching placement under the supervision of a veteran classroom educator and earn the Texas Standard Teacher Certificate at the end of the placement.
You must secure a teaching assignment at the grade level and in the subject area of your target certificate. Once you have secured a position, you will have an experienced, certified mentor assigned to work with you and a field supervisor provided by the Institute.
3) Complete All Requirements for a Texas Standard Teacher Certificate
You must complete all coursework, a professional practicum, and TExES examinations. If you do not complete all requirements within one year, we may extend the probationary certificate for up to two additional years. You may not teach more than three school years in Texas public schools on a probationary certificate. Upon completion of all requirements, you will apply for a Texas Standard Teacher Certificate. We will recommend you for the Texas Standard Teacher Certificate, issued by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification, a division of the Texas Education Agency. A criminal background check will be conducted prior to issuance of any certificate.
4) Congratulations! You Are a Certified Texas Educator.
Your Texas Standard Teacher Certificate will be posted to the Texas Education Agency website. You will be notified by email when your certificate is official.
